Rin-Tin-Tin: Rare Pair of Silver Nitrate Photos of the Original Hero/Screen Star German Shephard Who Became Famous Worldwide ca. 1927 (1918-1932) From the collection of Newton "Red" Jacobs while an executive at RKO Pictures until 1947. Later, Jacobs famously formed his own studio, Crown International Pictures, one of the kings of exploitation films and who imported and made a star of Sonny Chiba here in America. Rin-Tin-Tin was a male German Shepherd was rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, Lee Duncan, who nicknamed him "Rinty". Duncan trained Rin Tin Tin and obtained silent film work for the dog. Rin Tin Tin was an immediate box-office success and went on to appear in 27 Hollywood films, gaining worldwide fame. Offered are two quite rare, silver nitrate, sepia toned prints signed by the photographer Rice, 7½ x 9½" and in near to mint condition. Soft creases to upper right corner tip on the horizontal portrait otherwise amazing pieces. Estimated Value $300 - 500
