$5 National Bank Note. First NB of Amherst, MA. Ch. 393. Fr. 401. PMG Very Good 10, tear. The only bank to charter in this Hampshire county town, and would last through the entire National Banking era. Likely the only First Charter Five on the bank. While it does have some circulation issues it faces up nicely and retains good color. Pen signatures of R. J. D. Westcott as Cashier and Leonard M.
