$5 National Bank Note. National Union Bank, New London, CT. Ch. 1175. Fr. 397a. PMG Very Good 8. This new entry to the census brings it up to four notes recorded, as this is the first Five to appear also. Chartered in 1865, the bank would not last its 20-year charter, and was liquidated in January 1882. While well circulated the pen signatures of Leonard C. Learned as Cashier as William Chapman as President remain, as these two remained in these positions for the short life of the bank. Estimated Value $2,000 - UP
