Herod Agrippa II As King. Struck under Nero, 67/8 CE. AE 24 (13.75 g). Mint of Sepphoris (Neronias). Year 14 = 67/8 CE EΠI OYECΠACΠACANOY EIPHNOΠOΛI NEPΩNIA CEPΠΦΩ (in the time of Vespasian, in Irenopolis-Sepphoris); two cornucopias crossed, caduceus between them. Reverse: LΔI NEPΩN KΛAYΔIOY KAICAPO C (year 14 of Nero Claudius Caesar) within circle and wreath. Hendin 1276; T-127. Very scarce. Light chocolate brown patina. Nice Fine. Estimated Value $300 - UP
This coin names Vespasian while he was still a general under Nero. It also refers to Sepphoris as "Neronias" in honor of the emperor, and as an "Irenopolis" or "City of Peace."
