165 Million Year Old Sea Urchin with Three Original Spines. Sea urchins are echinoderms that are related to starfish and filter feed attached to the ocean bottom. This 165 million year old sea urchin, Hemicidaris ernularis was found in Ardeche, France. The dark gray body of the sea urchin is complete with grooves showing where the spines were attached and still contained within its original light gray 3 ½ X 3 inch matrix. There are three spines not attached that are 1 -3 inches in length. Estimated Value $300 - UP
