Large 7 Inch Dyplomystus Green River Fish with Flying Insects. The 52 million year old fish fossils from Green River Wyoming are very popular with fossil collectors because of the excellent quality of the fish fossils. This 11 ½ X 10 inch limestone slab contains a 7 inch long Dyplomystus dentatus, an extinct relative of the herring family. The dark brown Dyplomystus is complete with excellent bones, skin and several sharp teeth. What is very unusual about this slab is the presence of four flying insects up to one inch long on the slab looking like the Dyplomystus with its upturned mouth is about to devour them. It is rare to find insects on the same slab with fish from this locality. Estimated Value $750 - UP
