Emil Kosa Jr. "Hawaii". (1903-1968) Emil Kosa Jr. began as an art director for 20th Century Fox starting very young in 1933 and remained in that position with the company most of his life. Kosa is credited with designing the famous 20th Century Fox logo. In 1963 he won an Academy Award for his work in the mammoth spectacle CLEOPATRA. But he was equally well known for his original watercolors and oils and aligned with the movement that became know as California Scene Painting. His work was widely exhibited beginning in the 1930s and in his lifetime enjoyed solo exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and other institutions.

Offered is a monumental watercolor of Hawaii, an island paradise from an unspecified time. Kosa is in full command of his talents in this gorgeous watercolor with the entire spectrum of the island's colors in full display that still brings wonder to those who visit. The colors of the dresses on the women punctuate the greens and bring focus to the entire work.

One of the largest works by Kosa we have ever offered. Actual art is 24 x 36" and framed in heavy dark wood to 39 x 58" Local pick-up or outside shipping for this item. Estimated Value $3,000 - UP
