Crooners and Big Band: Archive 50+ Autographs and Signed Photos Including Bing Crosby, Dorsey Bros., Goodman, Carmichael, H. James. Very fine collection of over 30 of some of the biggest names in music from the 30s through the 40s during the Big Band era; singers, musicians, composers and band leaders.
1.) Three autographs by Jimmy Dorsey, one a 5 x 7" photo signed and dated 1938, one 4 x 5" photo signed, and an album book page 2.) Tommy Dorsey has signed a small leather bound program from a 1935 ball at Lafayette College where he and his band were the entertainers, 3.)Hoagy Carmichael writer of Stardust and Georgia on My Mind fame has signed two 3 x 5" cards, 4.) Ten (10) autographs by Benny Goodman consisting signed photographs from jazz history publications and two 3 x 5" cards. 5.) An 8x10" still by Rudy Vallée plus four autographs. 6.) Handsome 5 x 7" signed photo dated 1944 by band leader and film star Xavier Cugat. 6.) Rare 5 x 7" card signed by Gracie Fields 7.) Twelve signed pieces by Harry James including 7 signed 8 x 10" B&W photos and one vintage 5 x 7" signing Best Chesterfield Wishes 8.) Boldly signed and inscribed 5 x7" photo by Rosemary Clooney.

The balance are single autographs are by: Guy Lombardo, twice signed 8 x 10" photo and a 3 x 5" card signed by Kay Keyser, Frankie Carle, 3 x Tony Martin including two 5 x 7" photos, 2 x Johnny Marks including a musical quotation of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, signed photo by Vera Lynn, a group of 10 signatures on 9 business cards including Eddie Duchin, Fred Waring, Isham Jones, Phil Harris, Don Redmon, Horace Heidt signed page, two great 8 x 10" stills, one signed by Charles Buddy Rogers, the other by Perry Como signed business letter by Harry Armstrong with a musical quotation of "Sweet Adeline" and four superior 8 x 10" signed portrait photos by Percy Faith, Woody Herman, Al Hirt and Mel Torme.

Finally a 1946 letter between to music experts debating whether a music quotation, 2½ x 6" of a polka (also included) is actually in the hand of Dan Emmet, who wrote "Dixie". They claim it not to be but the observations are interesting.

All of these pieces are in very fine to excellent condition. A fine collection of music history. Estimated Value $600 - 900
