1870. PCGS graded Proof 65 Red. CAC. PQ. A lovely gem proof. The surfaces offer good contrast between the perfectly mirrored fields and frosted devices. No stray or detracting marks are present, and the devices are all needle sharp. An early proof issue which is seldom found at all, let alone at the gem level with full original Red color. An oustanding coin that any specialist will long appreciate for its endearing quality and appeal. Only 1,000 struck. Pop 30; only 6 graded finer for Proof Red at PCGS, 1 in 65+, 5 in 66.
