Lot 535

1794 S-72 R2 Exact Head of 1795 PCGS graded XF40. Glossy light to medium brown blending to darker olive brown in protected areas. No corrosion or verdigris but there are some contact marks. The most-notable mark is a small rim dent under the 94. There are nicks scattered over both sides including a diagonal one in the hair below the cap and a collection of ticks on the forehead into the hair to the left. MDS, Breen state III, with die cracks on both sides but no die clashmarks. There is a fine but clearly defined double profile on the nose, lips, chin, and bust tip. Our grade is net VF25. The attribution and Alfonso Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 7 finer. Estimated Value $2,000 - UP
