Lot 516

1794 S-45 R5+ PCGS graded VG10. Glossy medium brown blending to darker chocolate brown in the protected areas. An attractive cent with smooth surfaces, just worn. No verdigris, only minor contact marks scattered over the obverse. The notable marks are a dull nick on the forehead along the hairline and a smaller nick under the L in LIBERTY. The date and legends are complete and clear. EDS, Breen state I, before the reverse die cracked at IC in AMERICA. Graded VG10 and CC#11 in the Noyes census, his photo #25316. Bland says VG10 and tied for CC#10. Our grade is VG10. Seldom will all three EAC graders and PCGS agree on a grade! Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Alfonso Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 5 finer. Estimated Value $3,000 - UP
