Lot 499
1794 S-20b R5 Head of 1793 NGC graded VG10. Sharpness at least VF20 but covered with uniform microscopic porosity (which is not severe enough to deter the NGC graders from assigning a real grade). No marks or verdigris. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Dark olive brown and steel. The surfaces are a bit dull and this cent appears to have never been brushed. The edge lettering is deeply impressed and the upturned leaf following DOLLAR is bold. Early die state before any bulge in the field off the upper part of the chin. Our grade is net VG10. The attribution and Mervis provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 1; 1 finer in 12. Estimated Value $4,500 - UP
