Lot 493

1793 S-13 R4- Liberty Cap PCGS graded F15. Glossy dark olive brown and chocolate. Looks perfectly smooth and the eye appeal is excellent, but a glass reveals extremely faint granularity in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris, just a few minor contact marks. The notable marks are a small rim bruise outside the border beads below 93, another over the A in STATES, and a very light one over that second S, plus a trio of tiny scratches near the truncation above the 93. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, before any hint of swelling on the reverse. The date and legends are complete and bold. A very nice mid-grade 1793 Liberty Cap Cent. Our grade is F12+, close to the PCGS grade of F15. The attribution and Dr. Cadden Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimated Value $15,000 - UP
Ex Shawn Yancey 10/16/2018-Dr. Mark Cadden Collection.
