Lot 485

1793 C-3 R3 Liberty Cap PCGS graded VF20. Rather frosty medium brown blending to light chocolate with a swipe of dark olive brown toning near the rim right of the lower curls. The surfaces are perfectly smooth but slightly dull from a thin layer of natural oxidation, and it appears this half cent has never been brushed. The only marks are a fine, very old scratch hidden against the profile from the forelock down to the lips. The scratch is effectively obscured by a bit of dirt making the scratch look like microscopic crud tucked up against the profile. The scratch is barely visible under strong magnification, clearest at the lips. MDS. The date and legends are complete and clear. Our grade is F12. The attribution and Dr. Cadden Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #35009. Estimated Value $7,000 - UP
Ex Steve Fischer-Rod Widok, Goldbergs 2/16/2020:402-Dr. Mark Cadden Collection.

Realized $13,800
