1843 N-11 R2- Petite Head, Small Ltrs PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Repunched 84. Lustrous medium brown with delicate overtones of light bluish steel. A very attractive cent and nearly free of marks. The only defects are a very faint hairline scratch from the chin down to the field right of star 1, a tiny flake under the right coronet of the eye, a small spot over the M in AMERICA, and a weak strike on most of the stars. EDS, die state a. The rectangular depression usually found at the inner curl is not present but there are some tiny lumps on the left side of the E in CENT. The repunching on the 84 is clear. Our grade is MS62+, tied for CC#7 for the variety and CC#3 of the early die state in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
