1842 N-5 R3+ Large Date PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous bluish steel brown with very tiny peeps of faded mint red tucked into protected areas on both sides. No spots but there are a few small contact marks including nicks on the throat and jaw and a thin horizontal nick hidden in the hair right of the ear lobe. A small planchet flake in the field right of the bottom of star 4 can help identify this cent. Nicely struck E-MDS, die state a. The fine die lines and points found on the early die state are still visible. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer: 1 in 64+, 1 in 66. Estimated Value $1,200 - UP
