Lot 913

1873. PCGS graded MS-65. Here is a fantastic offering for the type or date collector who demands glorious quality and eye appeal. At a glance the numismatist is presented with a regal, original coin that displays classical soft pewter gray and silver toning, with slightly deeper russet gold surrounding the design elements and accenting them. The toning is perfectly matched on the reverse. Luster peaks through as well, and the surfaces are solidly in the gem class. 1873 is the first year of issue of this new concept coin of a Trade dollar, intended to circulate through the Orient, but many stayed here on these shores to form the great coin collections of today. Here is one such coin, with no signs of handling to distract, but well earned classical patina from decades of proper storage. Well struck and lightly toned. Pop 13; 7 finer, 1 in 65+, 5 in 66, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 7031) Estimated Value $7,000 - UP
