Lot 790

1827. Curl Base 2. Overton-147, Rarity 4. PCGS graded MS-65. This is the finest certified and known of this die scarce and challenging die pairing and the only Gem example seen. The surfaces are toned with lovely shades of blue and grey. The strike is typical for this die variety, with soft star centers and a few curls a bit mushy on Liberty while the reverse is bold. Where this coin really stands tall is in the quality of the fields and devices, with every surface carefully preserved and offering abundant eye appeal throughout. A lovely example. Pop 1; the finest example graded at both services for the variety. (PCGS # 39750) Estimated Value $14,000 - UP
