Lot 719

1858. PCGS graded Proof 64. Lovely, blue and gold toning on both sides. The obverse sports a handsome fiery yellow with russet and deeper peripheral tones while the reverse shows a more uniform silver gray around the eagle and bold, needle sharp striking. A rare date in Proof, as these early Proofs were just starting to gain popularity with collectors. so mintages increased from the decade prior from three to five coins to perhaps 100 this year. Not too many by any standard today! Only 100 struck. Pop 13; 8 finer for regular Proof, 1 in 64+, 5 in 65, 2 in 66. (PCGS # 5554) Estimated Value $1,800 - 1,900

Realized $1,860
