Lot 714

1847. NGC graded Proof 66. Nicely toned on both sides and this is a rare issue with only 10 pieces struck of which perhaps 8 survive today. Here is one of the nicest with glorious antique rose and blue toning with flashes of golden yellow intermixed. The surfaces are clean and attractive, and the strike is bold on the central devices, but a trifle weak on the stars on the right side only. This is a very rare and desirable early Proof coin, these were struck in very low numbers in most years, and survivors are few and far between. Needless to say, this is an excellent opportunity to buy a truly rare and exceptional coin. Pop 1; tied with a PCGS PR-66 specimen for the finest examples graded at both services. Estimated Value $30,000 - UP
