Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 122

Lot 687

1916-D. PCGS graded AU-58. A hint of light tone. The bands look almost full as the strike was sharp, and the highest devices just have a hint of wear. A perfect collector coin and one of the nicest of teh 264,000 pieces struck. The Denver Mint assumed it would return to striking dimes in late 1916, but they never had that chance, so after an initial flury of coins produced, no more 1916-D dimes were struck in the waning months of 1916, thereby creating the key date to the series. Examples like this are few and far between, so don't miss out if you want a really spectacular example. Popular key date (PCGS # 4906) Estimated Value $7,500 - 8,000

Realized $10,200
