Lot 672

1859-S. NGC graded AU-55. Totally white with soft silver surfaces throughout and just a couple of flecks of deeper toning found with some effort. The strike is sharp too, with all the details clear on Liberty and the surrounding stars. This is truly rare date in the Liberty Seated dime series, and with a low mintage of only 60,000 pieces, which of course were struck right near the outbreak of the Civil War, attrition had to be high for this issue. Today there are around 200 of these that exist in all grades, and only a couple are truly in mint condition. Here is one of the nicer slightly circulated examples which will command ample respect in its own right. A prized rarity when found this nice and worthy of a strong bid. Pop 4; 2 finer in 62. Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000
