Lot 670

1859. PCGS graded Proof 67. CAC. Sure looks better than the assigned grade, with near perfect surfaces and unbroken frost on the devices which stand tall against the mirror fields. Add to this the absolutely stunning pale blue and yellow gold toning on both sides and you have epic eye appeal. The visual impact is incredible here. This is also the plate coin used by PCGS for the Proof issue of this date as its eye appeal is truly off the charts. Furthermore, this is the sole finest certified by PCGS in the Proof category, but there is a small cluster of 4 in the Cameo designation. Wonderful rainbow toning on both sides. CAC approval adds to the overall desirability of this condition rarity. Only 800 struck. Pop 1; tied with four PR-67 Cameo examples for the highest graded at PCGS. (PCGS # 4748) Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
