Lot 619

1927-D. NGC graded MS-66+. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides with pale yellow gold dominating. The surfaces are satin smooth and virtually untouched by other coins or handling, keeping its technical preservation high and the collector desires even higher. A condition rarity at this towering grade and worthy of an exceptional bid to capture this exceptional coin.

The strike is reasonably sharp on this elusive Denver issue, with a well defined braid and hair of the Chief, the reverse shows minor softenss on the periphery of the bison as so commonly seen, its actually unusual to find a really sharp exampe of this issue. A thin die crack slips across the bison's head diagonally. The horn is clearly defined along with the tail, but there's a softness in their presentation that confirms the die wear present. An opportunity for the advancd specialist to secure what is undoubtedly one of the absolute finest of this important Denver coin. Pop 1; tied with 2 PCGS MS-66+ for the finest examples graded at both services. Estimated Value $30,000 - UP
