Lot 612

1918-D, 8 over 7. NGC graded EF-45. Evenly toned with light to medium gray with a dash of golden accents and rose highlights. This overdate was created when the master hub was usued to create a new die for 1917, then someone replaced the partially finished die with the 1918 master hub, and a wonderful overdate was born. The 7 is clear on this high grade coin beneath the 8, and the bison offers a full horn on his head too. A classic collector coin and a downright rare issue in all grades. Not many of these survived, and the overdate issue was discovered early on so the numbers struck and entering circulation was quite small. Popular key date Buffalo Nickel. Estimated Value $6,000 - 6,500
