Lot 48

1805 C-3 R4 Small 5 with Stems PCGS graded VG8. Dark olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The two-tone appearance accents the devices and adds to the eye appeal. No corrosion or contact marks but there is a fine planchet lamination on the rim over TED in UNITED (as struck) and traces of fine dirt collected into protected areas on both sides. Looks like a half cent that has never been brushed or given any TLC in over a century. EDS, Manley state 1.0, with just a hint of swelling in the field before the portrait. The strike is slightly uneven, stronger on the right sides. The date is bold and the legends are complete. Our grade is VG7. The Small 5, Stems features are noted on the PCGS label. Estimated Value $900 - UP
Ex Stack's Bowers-Raymond Gatzke Collection.

Realized $1,140
