Lot 34

1804 C-7 R4 Spiked Chin NGC graded AU55. Glossy olive brown and chocolate with slightly lighter brown toning on the highpoints of the devices. The surfaces are smooth and there are no spots or stains, only a few light contact marks. The notable marks are a very light scuff in the field over the bust that barely breaks the toning, a thin nick hidden in the hair over the shoulder, and a small planchet chip hidden in the hair left of the eye (as struck). The reverse is choice. Nicely struck EDS, Manley state 1.0, with an uncracked reverse. The Spiked Chin feature is clear. Our grade is EF40 and solidly in the condition census for this rare variety. A highlight of the Raymond Gatzke Collection. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Estimated Value $7,000 - UP
Ex Stack's Bowers-Raymond Gatzke Collection.

Realized $4,320
