1741 Admiral Vernon Medal Betts-324 R5 NGC graded XF40. One of the CARTAGENA series of medals. Nicely struck on a choice planchet showing just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. No notable marks or other defects. The surfaces are covered with a thin layer of natural oxidation and this looks like a piece that has rested untouched for a very long time. A proper brushing should bring out the underlying luster. The attribution and Eric P. Newman (EPNNES) provenance are noted on the NGC label. Estimated Value $100 - UP
