Lot 1283

1873-CC. NGC graded AU-53. This is a key date and one of many great rarities from the Carson City Mint. The mintage of a tiny 4,543 pieces sets the stage for difficulty in finding an example, and her is one of the absolute finest behind just a few others slightly finer. No examples have yet been certified in full Mint State, so this AU53 is certainly one of the finest around. CoinFacts estimates that only 78 individual pieces survive, or about 1.8% of the original mintage! The fields and surfaces are exceptionally clean, keeping the eye appeal high and there's ample luster in the protected areas. A premium rarity in spectacular condition, certainly a key coin that is not to be overlooked. Light golden toning. A very rare "CC" Mint eagle. Only 4,543 struck. Pop 7; 3 finer, 1 in 55, 2 in 58. (PCGS # 8667) Estimated Value $40,000 - UP
