Johnson, Andrew: Autograph Signed Calling Card (1873), a Near Pristine Naval Appointment & a William Evarts Signature (1873) Atty General (1808-1875) 17th President of the United States. 1.) Extremely clean autographed calling card 2 x 3½" dated Nov. 29th 1873 with only minor residue on verso from mounting. 2.) Absolutely beautiful Naval Appointment, 15½ x 19.25 issued as President. Both Johnson's and Gideon Welles' signature as Secretary of the Navy are steel engraved facsimile signatures, the appointment itself, dated 1867 is in near to mint condition, with only minimal toning along very top. 3.) A superb engraving conveys as well as a carte de visite taken by Mathew Brady. 4.) Signed 2¾ x 3½" autograph by William M. Evarts and dated New York, Sept. 1, 1873 practicing law in between leaving a position with Johnson as the US Attorney General and accepting the position as Secretary of State under Rutherford B. Hayes. All pieces in superb condition. Estimated Value $800 - UP
