A Handsome, Robust Silver Case, with Luck Emblem. Russia, c. 1900-1915. The case is a narrow rectangle, with rounded edges and corners, and spring button catch. The top features a well rendered head of horse, modeled in bold relief at the right. The horse is in full harness, with the reins looped around the foot of a large horseshoe, which acts as a frame around the horse. The interior has remains of gilding. Hallmarks are: oval with classical female head right, and 84. Also the rectangular maker's mark, IS within. Light graffiti on inside of top lid, a name in Russian, lightly inscribed. The button catch is set with two-colored "agate" glass gem. Size: 4-5/8 x 3-1/4 x 1/2." Nicely preserved, with very handsome toning to the emblem on the lid.
Estimated Value $400 - 550.
