Lot 798

Durand King Tut Vase. 20" tall, 8" at widest point. Large iridescent green bulbous stick vase with blue King Tut design, cased with amber iridescent glass. Signed "Durand / 1974 - 12" with proper "V". Two noteworthy flaws: one on the neck and the other on the widest part of the body -- these appear to be from the factory. The surface shows some wear, but otherwise the vase is in good to very good condition.

Although Victor Durand only operated his glassworks from 1924 until his death in 1931 (the factory was sold in 1934), the operation managed to produce some of the most striking glass of the 1920s.
Estimated Value $900 - 1,500.
Ex: Superior Galleries, November 1997.

Realized $1,495
