Biblia Parva Hebræo--Latina. Heinrich Opitius, Third Edition, Leipzig, 1689. Thick, octavo. Genesis through Malachai. Woodcut title page is trimmed at right edge. Early 20th century bookplate "Elkan Nathan Adler" inside front cover. Last ¼ has several wormholes and notable toning/damp staining; wormholes at top edge of front of book. Good condition, an attractive piece.

Heinrich Opitius, a professor of Theology and Oriental languages at the University at Kiel, developed a clean, very readable Hebrew typeface. Combined with his rigorous scholarly approach, the typeface made his Hebrew bibles very sought after. We are pleased to offer a "parva", or small, edition such as would have been carried by individuals rather than being relegated to a church or large establishment.
Estimated Value $350 - 500.
