STS-6, Challenger; Segment of Story Musgrave's FLOWN Velcro Bands Set In Acrylic. Paperweight Celebrates Story Musgrave's First Shuttle EVA. STS-6 was the maiden flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger. Story Musgrave asked to have the red-Velcro bands that encircled his legs removed from the outside of his EMU space suit that were attached so Mission Control personnel could identify him versus Don Peterson during the spacewalk operations. He cut them up and had set in acrylic discs with his signature also floating in gold letters. These discs are presented on a small wood base with the plaque reading "Commander's Stripe From the First Space Shuttle EVA April 7, 1983". Paperweight comes with information sheet and a color image of him in his EVA suit with red Velcro bands very apparent encircling his legs.
Fun fact about Musgrave. He is the only astronaut to have flown on all five Shuttles: Challenger, Discovery, Endeavor, Columbia and Atlantis. Estimated Value $300 - UP

Realized $720
