Shuttle Program, July 1978, 32 Signatures by the Initial Astronaut Candidates on a Thiokol Corp. Commemorative Envelope. Beautiful commemorative envelope representing Thiokol rocket motors and space systems in a beautifully illustrated cachet that lists on verso the various motors, rocket boosters and propulsion systems developed by Thiokol. Cover appears to have started with one astronaut, Guion S. Bluford, signing dead center. Obviously this employee with Thiokol continued amassing 31 other signatures. What sets this one apart from a different multi-signed Shuttle Astronaut cover in auction is many here identify their rank and armed services. We note Sally Ride, the first US woman in space, as well as Kathryn Sullivan, Rhea Seddon, Shannon Lucid (the only one signing on verso) and Anna Lee Fisher. We also note Ellison Onizuka and Dick Scobee who perished in the the Challenger disaster. Considering the number of hands this piece was passed, the signatures remain bold and legible. Estimated Value $750 - UP

Realized $420
