Amazing Signed Cover of the Shuttle Program Astronaut Candidates. 32 Signatures Including Ride, Resnik, Scobee and Onizuka Yet All Legible. A great piece from the earliest days of NASA's Shuttle Program, a single signed cover commemorating the 35 Astronaut Candidates selected January 1978 and postmarked January 16, 1978. Cover contains 32 original signatures with 3 signatures pre-printed on the cover itself (they are Dale Gardner, Brewster Shaw and Katherine Sullivan. A phenomenal collection of autographs including " Five signatures of the First US Women In Space" Margaret R. (Rhea) Seddon, Judith A. Resnick, Sally K. Ride, Anna L. Fisher, and Shannon W. Lucid. (Again Katherine Sullivan pre-printed) Obviously this first class includes several who perished on the 25th Shuttle Mission, STS-51-L, Challenger, including Scobee, Reznik, McNair, and Onizuka. While we have seen large photos and presentations signed, this is the first standard sized cover we have ever offered with so many signatures filling out every available space on a cover from the initial class of candidates.
