Dick Underwood's Archive of 1960-74 Collection of 11 Studies and Proposals for Photographic Equipment + Geologic/Terrain Studies of Moon (1927-2011) Richard "Dick" Underwood was chief engineer on the production of the first topographic maps of the moon. He was the first person to view every photograph from the Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz and the first 23 space shuttle missions. He also provided technical training to every astronaut who went into space in the 20th Century. Interesting collection of industry studies and proposals to NASA for issues regarding photography and mapping from space. There are proposals and studies from Fairchild Space and Defense Systems, Chicago Aerial Industries, Inc., WILD Herbrug, Edgerton, Germshausen & Grier, Inc., GEO Space Corporation, North American Aviation, Inc. and Graflex. Additionally there are published studies from not only NASA but Goddard Space Flight Center on everything from Geologic Evolution of the Moon, Terrain Photography Reports going back to Gemini, to a comprehensive "Photographic Plan" prepared by EVA and Experiments Branch Crew Procedures Division, Manned Spacecraft Center. Many of the covers showing some silverfish damage otherwise fine given the years in storage. Also included is a small collection of 20 high altitude aircraft images of Earth 10 x 9¼" which Goldberg Auctions has never offered before. A lot of material here! Estimated Value $400 - UP
