Rare 1956 Baccarat Crystal Perfume Bottle for "Diorissimo" by Christian Dior plus First Edition "The Book of Perfume" Where Bottle is Featured Twice. Diorissimo perfume made its debut in 1956 in a stunning limited edition Baccarat crystal perfume bottle in the form of a bouquet of bronze roses in an Etruscan-style vase. The designer Charles is said to have been inspired by the baroque-style chandeliers which illuminated the salons of the Dior fashion house in the avenue Montaigne. The bottle measures from top flower to base 9½ inches. Base of bottle has the "Bottle Baccarat Made in France" hallmark on faceted base. In very fine condition, the gold imprinted letters of Christian Dior and Diorissimo are intact, the bottle gleaming. We note a small chip to dauber easily ground out and a very tiny chip to inside lip completely obscured when elaborate topper in place.
"The Book of Perfume" published by Flammarion, Paris-New York, in 1995 and printed in Italy is included. Fascinating coffee table book on the history of perfume with superb photos especially focusing on the landmark bottle designs.
