Coca-Cola Calendars: Two Examples from the 1920s, "Flapper Girl" and "Girl With Tennis Racquet" 1923 and 1926. The first known Coca-Cola calendar was issued by the company in 1891. But by the first decade of the 20th Century the company copyrighted stunning images of popular, beautiful models and entertainers and enlisted some of the finest printers of stone lithography in the nation. Antique calendars are some of the most prized treasures by collectors, due to how rare most are and certainly how beautiful. Offered here are two vintage original calendars. 1.) From 1926, "Girl With Tennis Racquet" in good condition. Calendar has tears and creases throughout, is missing metal strips, with tape on verso and only one month remaining from the original pad. But this calendar could be restored beautifully by a competent paper restoration studio to address the condition issues because the colors are excellent. 18½ x 19". 2.) "Flapper Girl" from 1923 is in only fair condition. The calendar is heavily toned, has tape on verso to hold in check a deep crease at shoulder level of model as well as tape along calendar edges to hold in check chipping. Calendar does have its top metal strip and full pad, but time has faded "Flapper Girl", to an almost sepia tint, which admittedly one would see as a stage or film prop, and that in itself has appeal. 24¾ x 11¾" Both calendars are unframed and in Mylar sleeves. Estimated Value $250 - UP
From The Private Collection of James Harrison Ring.
