Coca-Cola: 1919 Antique Calendar "Girl With Knitting Bag and Bottle". The first known Coca-Cola calendar was issued by the company in 1891. But by the first decade of the 20th Century the company copyrighted stunning images of popular, beautiful models and entertainers and enlisted some of the finest printers using stone lithography in the nations. Antique calendars are some of the most prized treasures by collectors due to how rare most are and certainly how beautiful. A perfect example is this 1919 calendar of a woman at a military airfield, knitting materials and bag in hand enjoying a bottled Coca-Cola. Know there are versions of the same image where she is holding a glass instead, hence the distinction. In very fine condition with metal trim and round hanger intact, lithographic image vivid and with a minimum of scattered light creases. We note a crease and small tear at border below knitting bag that in no way detracts from the appeal of this piece. Calendar has single February 1919 page that has a detached tear to left border, 31¾ x 13", beautifully framed in gilt wood to 36½ x 17½". Estimated Value $1,000 - UP
From The Private Collection of James Harrison Ring.
