Coca-Cola Scarce 1914 "Betty" Antique Calendar, Without Bottle. The first known Coca-Cola calendar was issued by the company in 1891, but by the first decade of the 20th Century, the company copyrighted stunning images of popular, beautiful models and entertainers and enlisted some of the finest stone lithography printers in the nation. Antique calendars are some of the most prized treasures by collectors due to how rare most are and certainly how beautiful. The "Betty" calendar was produced in two versions, one with model holding her hat ribbon against her face as seen here and one altered with "Betty" holding a bottle of Coca-Cola complete with paper straw (an excellent example is offered in this auction.) Strong colors highlight this example but there are issues within the textured paper litho. Three creases, some edge tears in white border, a few dings and only the month of December remaining of the pad. Nevertheless the metal strip is present, and the colors are lovely. 32¼ x 13". Estimated Value $600 - UP
From The Private Collection of James Harrison Ring.
