"Britannia's Glory", Hand Tinted Etching ca. 1803. This is an antique hand-colored mezzotint and etching Britannia is in her chariot, with water-wheels and drawn by dolphins, the lion at her feet, carrying banners of the flags of England and France containing oval portraits of George III and Napoleon respectively and inscribed 'Peace with France[/England]'; Poseidon gesturing to a fleet of American, English ships in the background to right and a trumping angel flying overhead. Printed 1803
Clearly of considerable age but piece has been handsomely matted and framed with an eye towards conservation. Original art is 10½ x 13½ irregularly trimmed but with no loss to the truly fantastic art. Framed in and matted to 19 x 22½. One is on display at the British Museum in very similar condition.
