John Kelly. "The China Suite" Folio of 5 Signed, Numbered Impressions on Japon Paper. In February of 1979, John Kelly was the first American artist to extensively travel throughout China to create a suite of lithographs. The suite ended up being five images of 12 colors. The edition was limited to 250 impressions on Arches paper and 50 impressions on Inomachi Nacre (Japon) paper on which this suite has been printed. Each lithograph is hand signed, hand titled and hand numbered by Kelly in pencil along the bottom white margin in his handsome cursive writing. The individual titles in this suite are: "Hang Chow," "South China Sea," "The Fisherman," "The Bejing Express," and "Wang-Pu River." It is very difficult to find a complete suite of these lithographs, still in their handsome folio, 26½ x 20½", and in mint condition. Further, John Kelly has inscribed and signed his name on the title page of the folio. Beautiful suite of images and comes with the original COA from a gallery in Marina Del Rey, CA. in 1979. Estimated Value $500 - UP
From The Celebrated Collection of Alden T. Barnes.
