Salomoni, Tito. "Untitled Still Life". (1928 - 1989, Italian) Italian painter who embraced both traditional and surrealist art but always with a precision that made him very popular. Here a traditional approach to a still life expresses a memory of a voyage and adventure past. The nautical instruments, a map, a model of a three-masted schooner, an oil lamp, heavily completed diaries, an aged letter addressed to (actually the artist!) and a treasure likely acquired along the way, a Guanyin blanc-de-chine figurine. What amazes is the detail in each item, the wear on the book pages, the details in the ship, the precision of the map and the gleam of the porcelain. Salomoni has signed his name on the tacked note left of the map. In excellent condition painting is 27 x 20" and framed to 35½ x 27½". Estimated Value $750 - UP
