Oliver, Joseph Kurtz. "Firing Up The Kettle" (1896). (1863-1943) J.K. Oliver, father of Myron Oliver one of the most celebrated Northern California painters, certainly was a fine accomplished artist himself. Signed and dated 1896, the painting shows a common scene of the time which was the large outdoor kettle, here situated in between rocks so logs could be lit underneath to get the water boiling. Beautiful painting of rural Northern California, with chickens about, a weathered barn and gorgeous scenic vista has been recently cleaned, and framed handsomely in gilt gold wood. 14 x 20" with frame 17 x 23". Estimated Value $900 - UP
