Dave Berg Original Illustrated Color Art for MAD Follies #7 - MAD's Nasty Greeting Cards - "To a Status Seeker" (1920-2002) Beloved American illustrator and cartoonist known for his celebrated career at MAD magazine after contributing to several comic books in the 1940s including two years with Stan Lee at Timely Comics (now known as Marvel Comics.) Berg contributed to Mad for 46 years beginning in 1957 until his death, appearing in 368 issues. Fantastic Dave Berg original illustration in auction which he executed in color. This particular illustration 10 x 7¼" and was part of a series of "nasty" greeting cards by several classic MAD magazine artists. The text for all the cards were written by Frank Jacobs and read as follows in the Mad Follies #7: To A Status Seeker. You brag about your car, your clothes / The liquor on your shelf / I understand the reason why / Your nothing by yourself!" Berg's illustration compliments the limerick perfectly. Excellent condition and Berg painted this vibrant piece on Strathmore paper. Estimated Value $1,000 - UP
