Shakespeare, William and Philip Chetwinde. Mr. William Shakespeare's Comedies, Histories and Tragedies 1663-1664. Four (4) leaves from Shakespeare's 3rd Folio is sometimes found with a 1663 date on the title page and sometimes 1664. The former reads "printed for Philip Chetwinde". The later credits only as "P.C." Text is in 2 columns and include: Page 91-92 The Life of King Henry the Fifth. Page 291-292 The Winters Tale. Page 551-552 The Life of King Henry the Eighth and 592-593 The Tragedy of Coriolanus . In very fine condition, 13 x 9" with a few scattered bits of acid free tape to hold in check age tears and edge wear. Due to the Great Plague and the Great Fire in London, Many of the printed volumes of the third folio were destroyed. It is arguably rarer than the first folio.
Found with these four leaves is a large leaf from the New Testament, date unknown, but printed on laid paper so likely 18th Century or older, of Paul's 2 Corinthians, Chapters III through VI. 16 x 10" Condition: fraying, edge tears and folds but still very presentable. Estimated Value $500 - UP
