Christie, Agatha. Ten Little ******* First Edition Crime Club Publication & Dust Jacket. (1890-1976) Rare, original true First Edition with copyright 1939 by Collins under their The Crime Club Detective series. The repellent, racist title was taken from a minstrel song and for the American version released in 1940 was re-titled And Then There Were None the last five words of the song. The dust jacket illustrated by Stephen Bellman, is original but has been exceptionally well restored to address paper loss at top and bottom of entire width of jacket. Know the artwork is equally offensive as the title, as it depicts ten grotesque, stereotypical small black figures. The book itself with its bright orange cloth boards are in excellent condition, the printing exceptionally bold, the book, save for toning and light spotting on edges is in equally fine condition. Agatha Christie's work here is considered by many to be her finest, is the world's best-selling mystery and one of the best-selling books of all time. Between 1964-1986 a paperback re-titled again to Ten Little Indians also proved ill-advised once again by present moral standards. All considerations taken, this is an historic publication representing a different time that should be available for educational purposes in libraries and collections. Estimated Value $4,000 - UP
