Halévy, M.K. Mythology and the Siege of Troy, Division II (1892). From George Barrie Publisher, Philadelphia Mythology and the Siege of Troy with Illustrations After Paintings in the Great Galleries in America and Europe, Division II and published in 1892. Large volume 16 x 11" with 80+ full page images of paintings and engravings of gods and goddesses with some text of their history. This is the second volume of a two volume set with page count beginning on page 89. Leather along spine is missing and the edges of boards have chipping and some loss of leather. That said the large gilt letters "MYTHOLOGY" are remarkably intact and gleaming. There has been cloth tape to hold in check the front hinge of book, but the remaining pages are intact and the binding very firm. There is a book plate atop another book plate in center of laid endpaper, but the balance of the book has no marks, stains or tears--pages bright and clean with some stunnng classic works featured. Compared to most examples we have seen of this edition, this one impresses in spite of the issues mentioned. Estimated Value $250 - UP
