Edward VIII -- ALS Regarding His Upcoming Investiture as Prince of Wales (1894-1972) King of the United Kingdom and Emperor of India from Jan. 20, 1936 until his abdication on Dec. 11, 1936. Autograph letter signed, "Edward" as Prince of Wales, on light gray paper, 1½pp, 8x10", folded to 8x5". Buckingham Palace, London, May 24, 1911. To Mr. Jones, thanking him for sending "the two charming prints of the Castle at Carnarvon [not present]. It interests me very much to see what it looked like long ago. I do hope that the weather will be fine for the investiture ceremony, next July. It will be very interesting." Black ink is very faint. Edward was created Prince of Wales on his sixteenth birthday, June 23, 1910, but his investiture took place on July 13, 1911. Estimated Value $400 - UP
